About 905,000 children were found to be victims of abuse or neglect in 2006, research shows that family violence will increase when a pregnancy occurs. (Stephens). The only choice these teenagers have is to go visit the court house and try to get a Judicial Bypass. Teenagers do not have the money to pay an abortion and the government knows this. As of July 1st of 2015 the public funding for an abortion is only available for abortions in the case of life endangerment, rape or incest. In the case of rape the teen has to have filed an official police report in which the parents will be notified of. In case that the judge does approve the Judicial Bypass most teens will have to travel to be able to go get an abortion. In the US 89% of counties did not have any abortion clinics, one third of the woman traveled more than twenty five miles in the year 2008. For adults, going to court for a judicial order is difficult for a young women without a lawyer, it is overwhelming to maneuver the legal procedures and attend hearings scheduled during school hours.
