Wage Gap Between Athletes

The wage gap between athletes of different genders is a very disturbing and difficult topic. At the professional level you can widely see the difference between not only the wage gap for male athletes than females, but the importance that is shown towards a certain gender more than the other as well. Sports are a huge part of everyday society entertainment, as well as a way of life for many people who work their whole lives to get to that level. At many colleges for example the men’s coaching staff of many sports gets paid way more than female side of things. Which doesn 't make sense due to the fact that with big schools their funding for sports is so lopsided. With the woman category of sports for example in basketball woman coaching staff compared to men get so underpaid, however the school has the money to pay them it’s just due to the simple fact that because woman sports aren 't as well advertised that the girl sport doesn 't get recognized as equally and that leads to the male coaches for things such as basketball to get paid more. Woman and men sports need to have the same amount of athletes in college as one another, and with this being the rules most schools have a football team because in America football is such a big and rich part of our history and entertainment other than baseball and the Olympics. With that being said and so many colleges carrying a football team that leads to not as many sports for females due to how populated the football team is and how many athletes you have just for one sport. Another key argument could be derived from the college aspect of things by saying male and female sports programs are diversified through the amount of scholarships available and the amount of money that the scholarships can be awarded to genders, such as for example the scholarship amount that can be given out for a male and female soccer team is much different in comparison, and this is shown through the following statistics supported by “scholarshipstatitics.com”, for male and woman soccer there are 9.9 scholarships on the male side, and 14 on the female side. With that being noted the amount that can be maxed up to for all scholarships is $14,264 for men and $15,441 for the ladies and this is an example swaying for the way of females which is very rare because for every other
