Argument Essay: The Value Of Higher Education After High School

For students who are considering a path towards higher education, it is often presumed that remaining in High School for the entire four years is of the utmost necessity. However, this is not the case. Many students, myself included, have chosen an expedited path towards a higher education by graduating High School in three years, or in some cases, less. Graduating early is especially advantageous to students considering a career in medicine, law, or in any other field that requires almost a decade of schooling after college to have a head start. While graduating early may appear to be the most beneficial choice, few students choose this alternative route. Many students choose to stay for the entire four years, whether it be due to wanting to prolong already established friendships, unaware of the fact that early graduation is possible, or they feel as if they are not ready to go to college …show more content…
Graduating early can expedite a student’s academic career as a whole, especially if a student chooses to go towards a career which requires an immense amount of schooling. Those students who are aspiring for independence and an established career at an earlier age will be able to accomplish it by cutting unnecessary time out of the equation. In addition, High School is not necessarily the best learning environment for all students. Excessive control over the curriculum, classwork, and homework does not allow for students to explore and learn what works best for them academically, leading to a poor performance and a decreased likelihood of getting into their school of choice. The option of early graduation should be better publicized in High Schools so that students are aware of the fact that opportunities for expedited academic advancement are available to them, and so that they may break away from the norm if they so
