Over the years I have taken numerous personality test and have consistently described me as having an ISTJ personality type. In this paper I will discuss the results and validity of my personality type as scored by the Jung Typology Test. I am a literal person which makes me a Sensor per the Myers-Briggs test. I found myself laughing as I read the dialogue between the Sensor and the Intuitive (Kroeger et al, 2007, p. 35) as it reminded me of conversations I’ve had with those that work for and with me on many occasions. If the words, thought, think, assume, guess or anything similar accompany any information conveyed to me I immediately discount it as it is not fact. Things need to be completed and presented a specific way. If I have to do any guess work, then it is likely that I will return the product to the worker and have them do it over again. I am also told that I sound like a machine when giving any type of instructions because I am being too specific. I then have to explain that my desire is to give you the information needed to execute whatever the task at hand may be without any questionable doubt as to the expectation. I am direct in my approach to things which sometimes causes issues when dealing with those who are intuitive. In the military I do not have time for someone to find the meaning of something or to look for possibilities. I operate off of facts not someone’s conceptual thought. Outside of a military setting I have more time to entertain the intuitive side that I suppress while at work. When dealing with friends and family I think it is important that I be able to invoke my own intuition …show more content…
I am often told that I come off as insensitive and not caring; the personality test showed me that it is not that I don 't care it is just that I remain focused on what needs to be accomplished. I am now more aware of why I may unintentionally give others that impression. I have also learned that I will need to relax my Thinking preference to allow me to see things from a Feelers point of view as this will only help me to better understand my employees and enable me to get to know them better and will improve my ability to lead. Lastly, the personality tests showed me that because of my need for structure, details and proper planning, I tend to become frustrated when working under bad leadership and when looking back over the course of Naval career this has proven to be true on more than one occasion. Ephesians 2:10 states that “we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” This verse is a reminder that although our personalities may differ we are still created under the workmanship of the Lord and should ever remember to walk and act as

After completing both the DISC and JUNG Typology assessments, there are many outcomes that I found interesting. For starters, in the DISC assessment there were multiple categories that gave me various feedback. These included decisive, interactive, stabilizing, and cautious categories. My decisive score showed moderately low on the “D” spectrum and I thought that was very accurate. I tend to be hesitant on sharing my opinions in big group setting and I also would rather support someone else’s decisions rather than argue with them unless they are completely wrong.…
