In fact, most of us born before 1980 can probably only recall two attacks prior to September 11, 2001. The Oklahoma City bombing that was carried out by domestic terrorists and the first attempt on the World Trade Center in 1993. The constant coverage and images the media was giving us served two purposes they fed the sick fascination that many of us had developed and assured all of us that it had really happened. While the press in the United States is free, they are not without bias and we have to be aware of that fact. Media bias can alter the way a story is told and the images we are shown, which can distort our perceptions and beliefs. I have seen the way media bias in this country can cause two networks to report the same story so dramatically different that is seems like they are talking about two different events. It is up to us to make sure we are getting the whole story and all of the facts. It is important for us to make sure what we think we know is really true and
