End Of School Procedures Essay

Mrs. Hubbard said that that end of school procedures start about 2 to 3 weeks before the last day of school. The end of year procedures are hard on teachers but not because of exams they have to get ready for standardized tests. The standardized tests in Virginia are called SOL’s. These tests aren’t given at the very end of the year but a couple weeks from the end. This means that all of the content for the year has to be finished earlier. About a week before the last day of school both lesson plan books and grade books have to be turned in. This leaves the last week of school for the teacher to complete an end of the year checklist. It goes through things like library book returns or textbook returns. Mostly it is a lot of paperwork and getting ready for next year. Mrs. Hubbard had some other responsibilities besides the regular duties of a teacher. As a student I always connected more with the teacher than with my fellow students which labeled me as a teacher’s pet, but I saw someone that was like minded to myself. Their ability to help people and to make an impact stuck with me through the years. That combined with my love for children and my need to make an impact has pushed me to teach. The experience to shadow a teacher just solidified my want to be a teacher. I found it interesting and I didn’t spend the time bored. Instead I watched how the teacher interacted with the students and how she taught lessons. I made valuable observations that will help me when I have my own classroom. For many the pre-teaching experience is an experience that deters them from teaching or that they only complete as a requirement. I found that even though I was required to do it it was not a chore. I looked forward to it and I am excited for the time where I am the
