Language is the medium that is responsible to change on how the world interacts and has always been the one of the most prime knowledge that the human civilization ever invented. Without language, none of the historical articles that can be found in the latest version of history textbooks will ever exist. That proves how important the power of language can be and in the modern 21st century, English became the world’s most essential tool to decrease the language barrier worldwide as it is used in most educational and academic writings. Labeled as the ‘international language’, the English language has made a huge impact both in the highly influenced civilizations of the planet and in me.

Make an effort to speak in English with your family and friends. Start with a smaller circle, talk to your siblings in English. I remembered the early phase of learning the language, I approached my sisters and practiced. My sisters told me to keep talking without having the thoughts of my grammar being used incorrectly. The point was to make sure that I was able to speak without having pauses and hesitations, thus making my conversation sounded more natural and convincing. I practiced by talking to my family, then slowly I started using English as a medium of interaction in class. My classmates consisted of native English speakers, decreasing the altitude of having awkward and difficult moments when I was chatting. It was never hard to own the confidence to speak as they were always ready to aid me, and accepted the way I communicate no matter how many grammatical errors I made. The mass media plays a crucial part in the lives of children, adolescent, and adults. Make use of what the modern approach of electrical entertainment has to offer. Personally, I listen to English songs and analyze the meaning behind its lyrics. Songs have catchy phrases that get stuck in your head and it is a good thing, I started to learn phrases and use it in real life. The lyrics written can assist and increase one’s vocabulary and choices of words. Movies and TV-series has been my most influential platform to learn. Slangs can be adapted and accents can be identified, in time I was able to differentiate between American-English and British-English which to me is important because it allows me to use the language with many different approaches. Use subtitles to assist, and then search for the words that you cannot understand or never heard of it before.
3. Make friends with English-speaking friends. I do not limit myself by only interacting with my classmates, but I make use of the internet to make friends from all parts of the world.
