This binding instrument is known as the Universal Declaration that contained 30 articles listing key rights for people. Some of this rights may be taken for granted in the eyes of other; however, they are key human rights that should be given to every person. The Universal Declaration “serves as an authoritative statement of the rights to which state committed themselves” which also serves as a legally binding treaty amongst other states. This is significant because it keeps state actors in line in case they decide to violate people’ human rights. Therefore, the Universal Declaration provides a standard for all of the states. Although, some may argue that the Universal Declaration does not fully guarantee human right protection at the universal level, it does provide the bare minimum rights to be free from certain things such as
