My Flash Seminar would focus on what is causing the divisiveness in American politics and what impact it could have on our society. The Flash Seminar would cover the (i) failure to compromise, (ii) attention of the media to extremists, and (iii) abundance of accepted misinformation.
Politicians are moving towards more extreme positions rather than more reasonable ones. The politician who compromises risks losing funding or being cut off from their party’s support. Politicians are therefore forced to cater to the extremists to gain and keep their office.
The media also focuses its attention on the extremists as it makes for good entertainment and ratings. The more outrageous Donald Trump is, the more attention he gets in the media. As
