Languages are becoming an increasingly important part of the world’s society today. Through the rise of technology and communication, the English language especially (among others) has progressively become more and more popular throughout the world. Yet some people have trouble learning even the world’s most widely spoken second language. (Bloomsbury International, 2013)

In fact, it is quite easy compared to other languages such as French or German.” The definition of ‘hard’ is relative as some people will say ‘hard’, but really mean that “it will take time, effort and it’s not going to come easy.” (Mansary, n.d.) This in mind, this would answer the question on why some people think that English is ‘hard.’ It is simply a matter of perspective. To expound on this point, a survey was conducted on the hardest and easiest points of learning English and there was one particular point that came up repeatedly. In Australia, there is not much of an emphasis about learning a foreign language, especially as English is the primary language. As there is a growing amount of communication among different countries, knowing English is becoming increasingly important. The main contributors would be the growing use of technology, social media and music/ movies as well as work. As technology is growing stronger, there is both a growing need and also expanding ability to speak English as well as other languages.
