My Visit To First Galilee Missionary Baptist Church

There are hundreds of churches in Fresno County, and when it came time for me to choose one for my church visit and interview; I really didn’t know where to start. So when I got an invitation on Facebook, from one of my girlfriends inviting me to her husband Ministry Ceremony, I was happy my choices had been narrowed down to one church. My church visit was to be at First Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, on Sunday, September 18, 2016. The reason for my friend’s invitation was there was going to be a special service for her husband becoming a Minster. Since I have never witness what happens when a minister is called to the ministry, it was a good opportunity to find out and visit my girlfriend’s church. Having gone to a lot of churches in …show more content…
Again, I was expecting something bigger; maybe a super prayer or a bunch of dignitary’s from their denomination headquarters. Instead it was just the Pastor introducing my friend’s husband. It almost seems ironic that I was expecting so much, especially since I have so many issues with the rituals and traditions of churches. As the new Minister began to preach, he spoke of how he came to know the Lord. He spoke of how his life had been transformed and since learning the word of God had created a relationship with Him. It was in his preaching, which was not dynamic or even very powerful in his presentation, that I realized the expectations I had were really off track. Our assignment was to go to a different church and make a comparison to our own previous worship service. Being at First Galilee reminded me of my childhood church, and when I first got saved as a child. Church was simple and pure and it wasn’t pretentious. Although I don’t believe my church is bad, because its more polished and posed than First Galilee. What I learned from this experience was that teaching the word of God, should be the real reason for worship. First Galilee has a Bible school, where they are teaching the word of God. They are also a very tight knit community of

The site that I visited was Mercy Hill Church in Greensboro, NC. I went to a sermon, with some friends, that took place on a Sunday night. When we arrived at the church, we stayed together and observed the site. The members of this church all seemed to be within their twenties and thirties; there were a few younger children and a few older women and men, but not many. Most of these people seemed to be from Christian ethnic backgrounds or just unaffiliated with any ethnicity.…

Spanish Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 1. What happened during the services? I arrived at the church a few minutes prior to the service and I was greatly surprised by how well attended the service was. There were dozens of families in a spectrum of Sunday best and work-stained denim jeans and nearly every person wore a yellow and white vest with a red cross embroidered on the lapel. At the entrance there was a small dipping well and although there was no water in it at the moment, (most likely due to the sizeable crowd) people still placed their fingers in the dry well and crossed themselves before entering the chapel and before sitting, they would cross themselves again.…

At St. James, the pastors are all older men who have no energy, and seem to cough and spit into the microphone about unknown subjects. Conversely, my pastor at NFT is a very energetic young man in his early thirties who runs around the church, jumps on pews, reenacts things from certain experiences, and tells personal stories and encounters to capture the attention of the audience in a pleasing and meaningful way. This difference is the largest between these two churches and was the deciding factor when it was time for me to find my new…

It’s very strange how one experience or choice you make in your life can change the rest of your life that follows that event, would you then in turn change these decisions you made. Such as your what if your mom conceived you not on the knowing basis. What if everyone was telling her not to because she was to be a single mom and that’s not a world a child should be born into, but then what if she challenged this belief that she grew up with. This then in turn affected all her choices later in life, but then vice versa what if she didn't challenge this belief and stuck with what she knew. This may be of the more extreme choices in life that some people must make but we all have that certain time in our life that comes where we must break away and make…

The overall premise of Wheeler and Whaley’s The Great Commission to Worship is that worship and evangelism are not to be isolated from each other. Worship and evangelism go together and they impact how the believer is to live out the commandment of the Great Commission. Wheeler and Whaley make the assertion that evangelism and worship have been misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misapplied, and offer suggestions to fix this problem. The ultimate purpose of the Christian, according to Wheeler and Whaley, is to glorify God in all that he or she does.…

The introduction to the meaning of worship in spirit and in truth defines a person’s relationship and experience or encounter with God. Therefore, the two key ideas that was of interested in the book review was: what worship is and what worship is not. Worship is spiritual, therefore, the evident of true worship has to come from the heart, mind, and soul of a person. The heart, mind, and soul are components of spiritual transformation in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Secondly, worship is loving others, as example of God’s love for the world, (Jn. 3:16, EVS).…

Introduction The concept of “church” was started as the tabanacle where the Ark of Covenent was placed (Old Testament). Then it was transferred into the “Temple building” where people experienced God’s presence. When Jesus came to dwell among people, He was the Temple instead of the building. He confirmed it; “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days” (John 2:19 NIV).…
