When Emperor Constantine I signed the Edict of Milan and put an end to the Age of Martyrs there was an unforeseen consequence. Part of the Edict made Christianity the main religion in the Roman Empire, which lead to a large amounts of false salvations. When the threat of death was eradicated from following Jesus, and it was deemed culturally acceptable for anyone and everyone to follow Jesus it lost a lot of its sincerity. The church then began to gain power and with power can corruption and a further spreading of these false believers. While this was hundreds of years ago the mentality is also in the United States of America. As a country supposedly “Under God” most of the citizens here, when questioned, claim to be Christians, however, these claims are not supported by regularly attending church or even acting like a Christian is supposed to at all. For example, when I was growing up my Father and Step-Mother always said we were Christians, like a family unit. There was even a brief time when my father was part of a worship team at a church, however, as I grew up and learned the meaning of being a Christian I realized that what they believed in was not the Christian God. They wanted an all dogs go to heaven scenario, and it this is shown in every aspect of their lives and how they live. Unfortunately, this mentality also has made its way into the actual church, Christians all around the world are reading their cut and paste Bibles and are throwing out all aspects they do not like. This cannot truly be counteracted by anything we can do outside of telling to true good word of God, and leaving the rest to
