Honor House Leader Essay

Great Essays
I consider numerous things to be incredibly important when it comes to being a leader of any sort, but in terms of being a University House Leader, I find there to be specific ones that stretch beyond that of a leader in other communities. The first of which is being an approachable person. The reason for this being that for a lot of students it is the first time they are living away from home. If someone needs an ear to listen to everything they are feeling, then a leader of the Honors House should be someone easily accessible and willing to talk regardless of the time. The second competency would be staying organized throughout situations. Not only do I mean having a planned schedule, but the ability to adapt and overcome any situation that is thrown at them. Finally, I believe that a University Honors House Leader would need to be able to take charge in any given situation regardless of said situation or the people involved.
Throughout my experiences in high school, I have held three particularly powerful position that have put me in this position. The first was being the NJROTC Operations Officer which put me in charge of coordinating all of the activities and getting the word out to the rest

School has never been any different. To be an Honors Fellow, I feel that it would allow me to take my academics and opportunities up to a higher degree than I would as being just another honors student. The top reason I would truly enjoy being a fellow is because I would get to have the absolute joy of being surrounded by people who want to strive and want to see the other strive as well, in addition to the staff members who, as far as I have seen, go above and beyond what is asked of them to help out the fellow honors students. My ultimate goal is to give something back to this organization that has already given so much to me, even as a

I believe there is a more evident ambiance of respect in the Honors Program because, like the students, the professors are highly motivated. Additionally, the Honors students want to be in a more academically challenging environment and the professors want to teach these students who are hungry for knowledge. Furthermore, the smaller classroom settings are ideal for my learning process. With the smaller settings, there are less distractions and more individual attention which makes a difficult topic easier to comprehend. Also, I plan to take advantage of the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities since I have been accepted to the College of Engineering.…

As a high school Senior and aspiring college freshman I have given myself the ultimate plan to give back to my home of Hawaii. My plans may not affect those of the nation, but I do wish to bring positive change to the people of Hawaii and I am more than hopeful that it will have a significant meaning on those of Hawaii. My dream is to become a Human Resource Manager, it is hard to understand how a Human Resource Manager can bring change to Hawaii, but I am willing to prove that. A Human Resource Manager consists of working with others to better whatever they are working for and I am more than willing to put that in place of bringing change to Hawaii. I plan to make a change in Hawaii by influencing those of the younger generation by teaching them that their voice matters, leadership skills and how to be a positive minded person.…

Just knowing that you helped and taught someone to make them a better person should be a wonderful accomplishment. It takes motivation and positivity as well the skill set to be a strong leader on the administrative side of things. Some of my favorite captains, Correll Maley and Amanda Leung, have wonderfully led the team and are both people I look up to. The captain should be someone who can support the team when they’re down and rally for them when they’re up. The captain should be someone who can handle the tasks that are required of them and who can work well with their other co-captains. The captain should also be someone who genuinely wants to lead, motivate, and have fun with their peers.…

Although excited to begin, I had to face the hard challenge of speaking in front of people, establishing my own authority, and battling my own indecisiveness.
