According to Chapter 1 Social Science and its Methods, informs us that social science is very important to understand society. In order to interpret society is to increase our knowledge in very subject like mathematics, sciences, english and so on. With the concept of these subjects one can have a very successful and meaningful life. The subject social science is subdivided into many categories such as history, anthropology, sociology, geography, economics, political science, and psychology. Each of these subjects are interrelated with one another. The concept of social science shows how human knowledge and time are related, it deals with how we as humans perceive at the world. There are laws that govern the social life, first is the satisfaction of the social progress. Second, society is very complex, and third every social institution there is a human element. With this social scientist pass theses laws they can develop a theory. These laws can be more than difficult because they deal with people that are very attached to their emotion. Their emotions cloud their judgements and take routes that will make them unhappy about themselves. Social Scientist have a structure to deal with a problem in a reasonable approach. Observing the situation because the world is to for observe. Defining the problem is why the topic was brought up into the conversation, is it because of the controversy that comes along with the subject. Reviewing the literature is knowledge because it provide evidence. Review the information some more, than make a hypothesis based on the evidence that is provided. It reflects society desires. The conflict theory approach is social behavior in terms of conflict and tension among groups or class. The symbolic interaction theory approach which individuals as deriving meaning from the symbols they learn from. The social scientist use these alternative methods to approach the problem. Moreover, there are more alternative methods such as the historical method is where social scientist have heavily rely on past evidence. The case method is making a detailed examination and analysis of a particular issue. The comparative and cross-cultural method is patterns of social development or progress that would be universal. It consist of making detailed studies of the culture patterns of a number of societies for the purpose of comparing the different ways in which their people meet similar needs. The important part when conducting any experiment is to use an educated common sense. Social scientist either rely quantitative data or qualitative data depending on the issue. Statistical analysis provides social scientist the information needed to understand social relationship. Statistics show the results of social activity and trends.
