And this tradition has already been through a few changes since I was a child. The back story is that my sister, mom, and I made ornaments by hand. And we started doing this because we found some old hand made ornaments from my great-grandmother. We started making ornaments on Thanksgiving break, because my grandmother liked to put up the Christmas tree and decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving. But making ornaments by hand requires a lot of devoted and money, and we eventually out grew the tradition. We focus on what we are “grateful” for at Thanksgiving, but those blessings can get lost when we look towards everything that needs to be ready for Christmas. The ornament is a placeholder to remember back to Thanksgiving and what was important to us in that moment. For me, if the tradition would cease to occur the value of Christmas that represents civility and love over material items would be lost. I find that there is an intrinsic value of being genuine towards others that I experience during the Christmas season. It is one of the best feelings that I ever get to feel, and I do not have to go out and spend money in order to feel that
