TV is said to rot the brain from within when watching pointless cartoon violence. I however, agree with you Steven Johnson that television could be used as tool to help educate the brain. According to your quote, “The intelligence arrives fully formed in the words and actions of the characters on-screen (Johnson, 280).” I interpret this as hidden knowledge on shows that come through expressions and laughs. When television was first invented, it was a great new way with communicating to spread news throughout the world. The more programming that came on, the more people thought it was becoming more of a distraction then a helpful device. Television can make one more knowledgeable through educational programming, Intellectual narratives, and mind stimulation.

What stimulates the mind from TV are programs that spark the interest in the viewers. Another way to use TV to stimulate the mind is to close your eyes and just listen to the sounds of the TV and what interests the shows bring in to your mind. For me, I always fall asleep to the TV because I listen to the sound and the little flashes that I do see with my eyes close. It relaxes me, which causes the stimulation and makes me go into slumber.
