Does Tv Show Encourage Teenage Pregnancy

When it comes to the topic of does the tv show “16 and pregnant” promote or discourage teenage pregnancy, it seems like the show is not promoting, it is actually discouraging. My research has shown that only after eighteen months the show aired, the show led to a 5.7% reduction in teen births. Statistics show that the United States teen birth rate have went down majorly over the past twenty years. Furthermore, many teens are watching the show just to enjoy, not for encouragement. I agree that the show discourages teenage pregnancy because my experience using this information I found has proven that teens aren’t becoming pregnant because of the show. They may be up for hours of the night having to feed, rock, and change the baby. The teen being up for hours can cause their surrounding people to get upset. They are going to be tired and ask other people to start watching their child because they can hardly stay awake. This can lead to the teen not being able to stay up in class. If they have a bad sleep pattern, then they won’t be able to focus, and when the teen is doing homework, they are most likely rushing through the work. They have no childhood or free time hardly during the day. Also 3 out of 4 teenage mothers don’t have the fathers involved to help them. They mainly depend on their own parents to help them. The show has prevented several teens from sexual intercourse from the fear of them having a child. It shows them that they can’t do things they would like to do because they have to grow up sooner than they planned. It shows them all the responsibilities they will have to take care of and how being a grown up is not fun. The teens experience how it is like to be isolated from their friends. A lot of the teens lean on welfare and food stamps by the age of twenty because they cannot support themselves. They get so dependent on the government that it can start creating a bad habits and they won’t even try to go out and get a job. This happens to become a butterfly effect. The upper class starts getting angered at the people on welfare who are so dependent on them because they are paying their taxes on them. The fact that the mother will depend on the government, could also affect the child mentally because he won’t have “nice clothes” or shoes, and people at school will make fun of the child because the mother will not have enough money to get the “materialistic” items. Then other kids at the school will make fun or bully the kid. Bullying can lead the child to not want to go school anymore because the child would be too shy to be around other kids, which can cause them to be socially
