Tee Abortion: The Importance Of Sex Education In California

Improved Essays
The Central Valley has the highest teen pregnancy rates in all of California. Just the Tulare County alone has a 43.7% of teen pregnancies in California. This shows the rest of California that Central Valley parents do not monitor their kids or teach them about sex/safe sex. This could potentially push away families who want to move to the Valley, because who wants their 16 year old daughter to get pregnant, or their 17 year old son to become a father at such an early age. If parents don’t want to teach their kids about sex education, I believe it is up to schools to teach them. School is a learning environment and learning about the dangers and how to practice safe sex is just as important as any other subject they teach in the classrooms. …show more content…
It’s a big headache and very sensitive to some people. But common condoms are a must to talk about with your kids, not only does it keep them from becoming a parent but it also keeps them safe from std’s something that could kill them. Birth control just prevents the girl from stopping ovulation so there is no way the girl could get pregnant but there is no protection from std’s. But either or they both stop pregnancies but there is always those special cases where a condom rips or birth control fails. So it’s not a 100% chance but it still helps might as well have some chances of your child not being a parent than none. Some teachers may argue that teaching a subject like that would be a complete waste of school time and not worth it. Which is not true most students would rather learn about this real life subject than a hard form of math or science. I remember when I was in grade school taking algebra questioning why we have to take this and that it was a complete waste of time. When would I ever use any of this in life I would always ask, but in a class that taught sex education it would be something students can use further on in life not just in a

Abortion Abortion wasn’t always legal in America, until the early ‘70s. Before abortion was legal women who had the money will usually pay a doctor to do it for them. However, for many women that wasn’t always the case. Those who wanted an abortion, but couldn’t afford it will place a coat hanger in their vagina or they would drink hard drugs and or other chemicals. On January 22, 1973 in the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, was when abortion was finally legal, because the courts had realized it was an invasion of women’s privacy.…

Birth Control Availability “American teenagers become pregnant at a rate of about one a minute” (Kristof 1). Birth control availability has been a topic of controversy for many years due to the fact that there are many different people who have different viewpoints on it. Whether some of these people like or do not like the idea of distributing birth control, it is still an issue that many women are being forced to deal with. Birth control is handled differently in different places, and sometimes it is not handled at all. Some places do not even distribute birth control, adding to the issues that are occurring due to non easy access to it.…

Its outrageous the fact that school boards keep a system in place that doesn't teach how to stop unplanned pregnancies is outdated and frankly doesn't work because it only provides half of the knowledge. A passage taken right out of the NAEA or National Abstinence Education association's website states “Despite what you may read in the newspapers, there is a growing body of research that confirms that abstinence-centered education decreases sexual initiation, increases abstinent behavior among sexually experienced teens, and/or decreases the number of partners…

Sex education has been a notorious failure in the education system. Such programs fail because they teach teenagers to be judges of their own sexual behavior—not society, not their authoritarian parents, and certainly not the church. Sex education programs approach sex from a “neutral” viewpoint by teaching students to postpone sex until they are more mature, but encourages them to use proper protection if they are unable or unwilling to wait. From this “neutral” viewpoint, there is no good explanation for why students should not have sex when the technology to prevent or terminate diseases and pregnancies is readily available. Sex appears to be just another sport activity where only the proper gear is needed to stay safe.…

Many teenagers in high school are uneducated in sex and its harsh consequences. As a former high school student, I have witnessed many of my classmates contract sexually transmitted diseases and take on the role of motherhood much too early. I oppose the fact that many high school students will be faced with a dire situation because they are uneducated, they are underestimated, and they are unprepared. Therefore, sex education classes should become part of the mandatory curricula at all public high schools in Texas.…

Sex education is instruction on issues relating to human sexuality, including emotional relations and responsibilities, human sexual anatomy, sexual activity, sexual reproduction, age of consent, reproductive health, reproductive rights, safe sex, birth control and sexual abstinence. Sex education that covers all of these aspects is known as comprehensive sex education. Common avenues for sex education are parents or caregivers, formal school programs, and public health campaigns. This is the history of Sex Education according to Mississippi.org , “In 2011, the Mississippi Legislature passed a new sex education law mandating that schools adopt a sex education policy–either “abstinence-plus” or “abstinence-only”–by June 30, 2012. Abortion is a huge problem that has caused a wide range of controversy all over the United States. There are two sides to the problem, which are people who oppose abortion or support it. Abortion becomes a big deal when trying to decide whether a fetus should be considered a human being already when a woman aborts. In my case I believe that a woman should not be able to abort a child inside her unless there is some type of serious medical issue where the child may not come out alive. When a woman aborts a child, they did not want, it is like the killing of another human being who had no say or ever did anything wrong to deserve it.…

Comprehensive knowledge to these subjects will be provided in the classroom including: birth controls, the use of condoms to prevent STI/STD’s, sexual behavior, meanwhile also encouraging abstinence and delayed sexual activity. Few parents disagree with school’s providing the information to their children; although, the parents who do contradict may not be willing to provide information about this subject and the knowledge the adolescents need to know. A child has the ability to have sexual interactions whether or not they are taught safe sex; so why not provide the information they need to know to keep themselves…

Sexual Education has been encouraged to be a part of public school education since the late 1800’s. It is a program that is supposed to help young adolescents understand their body, promote abstinence, types of contraception, the risks of engaging in sexual activities, and how to prevent diseases or pregnancy. However, many parents fight this program because of their beliefs that teens should stay abstinent till marriage, and learning about sex will increase their urge to have sex. Depending on what the state requires to be taught and what a school district wants, a student will either receive one of the two styles of sexual education. The two styles are comprehensive and abstinence only.…
