Parents have a responsibility to their children both morally and legally to keep them out of harm 's way. A parent should talk to their child and help them understand why the curfew was established, and be specific about what will happen if it is broken. In the article Curfew by Omaha Magazine, it states that 78% of adults agreed that having a curfew in place is to protect their children and keep them safe and out of trouble (Omaha Magazine). My dad used to say to me “there is nothing good that can come out from being out that late at night”(James). Family time is precious time that is key to forming that bond that later instills the trust and confidence, which says to the parent that their teen is responsible enough to loosen the curfew as they grow and mature. A Later Start Time “Sleep is a simple yet powerful potion with the ability to enhance learning, boost creativity, fight infection, fuel growth, and balance mood.” says Dr. Helene A. Emsellem, the author of Snooze...or Lose! Middle schools should change their start times to later in the day because more sleep means better academic performance, less sleep deprivation, and would positively affect athletic performance. People argue that a later start time will affect extracurricular sports, and that the bus schedules will conflict with the start times. An argument that there is still plenty of time after before the sun goes down in the fall and the winter to practice, and more sleep improves athletic performance. Many parents allow their child under the age of 18 to be out past 11 pm. I strongly believe the law should have no part into setting a curfew for children, their parents should strictly be the ones to do that. T.M vs. State of Florida In this case I am for the strict interpretation of the laws because the right to have freedom of assembly is very important. Every American should have equal rights but the person that is in charge, just like the guardian of the minor should be able to restrict these rights.…
