The technology placed in classrooms allows our students to access a blended learning environment. Dreambox is an example of technology we use in the classroom and at home for mathematics. It allows students to enter at their level, but if they need practice at a lower level, it allows them to go back, or to accelerate to a higher level. Teachers are also using technology pieces to increase parent engagement.

Dr. Martin talked about the four major goals that have been in place for a number of years. We’re always looking at ways to increase parent involvement. The integration of technology has been the focus over the last several years. We have provided professional development for teachers on targeted instruction so they can address specific needs of students in the classroom. We want to create an environment which is all inclusive so they can enhance

All of our buildings have cameras outside. We want to expand the placement of cameras inside our buildings. Cameras are currently inside Arborwood North and South, MHS, MMS, OCHS, Riverside and Waterloo. Having cameras in the buildings helps with discipline, especially at the secondary level. Eventually, access control will be installed at the playground entrances for assistants to use during lunch time. Custer is our primary concern, and access control will eventually expand to other buildings. We continue to use the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) concept. This gives teachers options based on the situation to help protect kids. Next month, our Student Resource Officers will train new staff and any current staff who needs a refresher. Technology provides teachers effective tools to not only teach, but also appeal to different types of learning styles in students. With the use of computers in classrooms, teachers will be able to connect with their students, parents, and even other teachers, strengthening the teacher-student relationship and/or teacher-parent relationship. Students can ask questions and get instant answers from their teachers. It also allows students to interact with their classmates more, encouraging collaboration.…

In this article, a key idea that I read about was how integrating technology into the classroom is sometimes put on pause because of the teacher’s knowledge and experience with technology, pedagogy, and content (TPAC). The world is constantly changing and that is including technology. It is a teacher’s responsibility to change and grow with these changes that can be so important to student’s lives and help them to better their future and education. Technology is a complicated thing, but integrating it into the classroom betters the students because they are learning in a more fun and engaging way, rather than reading word-for-word from a textbook. Integrating technology into the classroom could start at watching a simple video clip about a topic or go all the way to doing a whole unit straight from computers and tablets.…

Public schools have been equipped with video surveillance CCTV systems even before Columbine. The reasons include increased safety and security for students. Installing video surveillance cameras in schools is a costly project, and school districts must be sure that this is the right route to deter theft, property damage, and to prevent outsiders from entering the school's property. Even though most school districts that have implemented video surveillance systems have faced privacy concerns from parents, students and civil libertarian groups, school officials assert that cameras curb crime and are important sources of physical evidence when crimes do occur. Why should schools use video surveillance?…

As a babysitter and future teacher it is frustrating to see the constant demand for technology to be used as a distraction and something to keep children busy. Children have lost the drive to go play outside, or to knock on a neighbor’s door to ask for something. They obsess with playing video games inside and elementary students are rewarded with smart phones as holiday gifts. What happened to talking at the dinner table instead of surfing social networks? “In the early grades, children need live lessons that engage their hands, hearts, bodies and minds – not computer simulations” (Cordes, 2000).…

Technology is ever advancing and being implemented into the classroom just as quickly. Students and teachers are being told to use technology for assignments, lessons, eBooks, online grading system, and even talking to other students via school email. I feel like it should be required for Public schools to teach their students how to write in cursive because it is an important lesson that should be used in every day life. I think that just because technology is getting more advanced it doesnt mean that everything we learned by being taught and remembered through memory shouldnt be forgotten. We should be able to use our brains and gain knowledge that can help us remember and become familiar with certain misunderstandings. When we write using our hands we use our entire brain capacity because it's a learned talent that stays in our mind. Every student in the future should have a choice on what they want to learn and dont want to learn.…

Being a grown up in today’s world is expected of students by the time they are out of highschool. Everyone wants to be a successful adult when and after they graduate, and there are ways to ensure that. Kids need to realize how important individuality is, kind of like how the Transcendentalist of the 1800’s did. With this being said, they need to be socially active and interact with people, maybe through certain interests, and gain experience. This can be done in person or with technology, which is another big deal for students.…

Students in this generation are known as digital natives because they have grown up with technology within their lives and are able to manipulate it well (Coviello, 2013). Technology is a great additive within every classroom because it can be manipulated to include every student in the classroom as well as the teacher. Technology can be arranged to fit any lesson plan and can also improve engagement because it something that children use on the daily basis within their homes. Being able to manipulate technology in school helps to boost motivation within students who are used to manipulating technology outside of the classroom. The classroom arrangement that best fits this method is one that a future teacher can and will be using within their own classroom.…

Students’ education has changed over the years and the reason for it is technology. For hundreds of years teachers have used books, paper, and pencils to teach their students, but for the last few years technology has become part of everyone’s life in one way or another. Students and teachers are getting their technology through the classroom and it has impacted student learning. Technology has positively impacted student learning because they have more motivation, self-esteem, are completing complex tasks and help others more, while it has the negative impact of poor work and shorter attention span to tasks. One way is that technology has increased students’ motivation to learn and their self-esteem in what they learned.…
