I believe that it is safe to assume I learned by mimicking my parents at a young age. I can vaguely recall learning to tie my shoes, but before and beyond is a rather distant blur. Though, there are specific parts of my life that can be acknowledged as a major contributor’s. I knew when I was in elementary school that I loved to read. I often would take visits to the school library to check out a new story to embark on. I have always had a fascination with libraries. Tall shelves filled with books, the old dusty books that haven’t been touched in years, the smell of the pages. The only place better to read a book would be in complete solitude. Fictional and science fictional were always my favorite. I was always intrigued with how the authors could be so creative. As if their imagination were never-ending or their mind full of ideas. It was inspiring For me, reading was an escape. A sort of adventure in which you can open your imagination and enter into another world. Not just another world, but the world of someone else’s imagination. It is important to have a free almost childlike mind in reading and writing. Without it stories would be left with dry and meaningless, as if adding a spark of life.
