During this past week we had a STAR activity that we had to complete as a class. We were directed out of class and given instructions on the activity. We were each given a blindfold as well as given a number. The number symbolized the number we represented and we were ordered to arrange ourselves in a line from 1 to 17 without talking or having the ability to see. Once people heard the task I could hear people starting to talk about how they were going to communicate with the rest of the class. I was given the number so my mode of communication was just to use my fingers to count out five. Other students were drawing out the numbers in the palms of people, or tapping their hand with their designated number. In my head I was thinking that method

I started looking at the ground in order to navigate through the ground better and Dr. Carr called me out on this because it was a loophole in the restrictions. I think I did this because I was uncomfortable with the fact that I wasn’t able to control the situation and this caused me to do this. Other people would give up and wait for other people to come to them just because they felt the there was more chaos when they actively participated. This situation just showed that it takes teamwork to accomplish good communication. For example last year I was put into a subcommittee in a organization with several other member the organizations and we were given certain tasks that we were supposed to accomplish by the end of the semester. I was very excited to be a part of this group because it was something that I was very passionate about however no one else shared this with me. Because of this there was very minimal communication, and no one was doing there assigned duty. I knew that we had to change the way we were doing things so I initiated the change and created a Groupme. We began using the Groupme and starting meeting more often and people were more active in the group. By the end of the semester we had accomplish all of goals and the people in the group are still some of my closest friends today. Being able to establish good communication among the group allowed
