As they wander into a new room with colorful pictures and soft rugs, their shyness disappears when they sport other children playing with large blocks and Play-Doh®. After a few minutes of fun, a young woman with a kind face gathers the kids and hands out a snack. As they munch on crackers, she introduces herself and explains that they are in a place called kindergarten. They are going to learn about reading, writing, the alphabet, and numbers. Of course, the main concern of anyone pursuing any type of career would be: “Who’s going to give me a job?” You don’t want to pursue a career if no one is willing to hire you! With teachers, there is one basic category: Schools. This is a basic category that includes several different types of schools. There are public schools, which employ a majority of teachers; charter schools, which employ fewer teachers; and private schools, which are independent and employ very few teachers. 5. If you want a job that pays well, then you are going to need to be educated. Most kindergarten teacher “must complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and complete student teachers at an accredited school in the area of specialization” (“Elementary School Teachers”). Some states require different degrees or a specialization in a specific course, but usually a B.S. in Elementary Education will be enough to get a job. 6. While many colleges and universities offer Elementary Education programs, the universities that are best known for their programs are Michigan State University and University of Wisconsin-Madison (“Elementary Teacher Education”). If you prefer to stay home and earn your degree, a good option is Liberty University Online. The requirements for Liberty University are as follows: “120 total hours; 30 hours must be taken through Liberty; 50% of major must be taken through Liberty; 30 hours of upper level course are a required part of the 120 total hours” (“Bachelor of Science”). Whether you prefer to go to a university to obtain your degree or to do it online, there are plenty of options out there for you to choose

This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. The first day of kindergarten is interpreted many different ways for many different children. For some, they are terrified to leave their parents behind. Others do not experience the same amount of fear and are more willing to jump out of the arms of their parents and into the mysteries of school. During their first day of school children are forced to look around the playground to pick out what individuals they will choose to be their friends. The boy sitting alone with his finger in his nose, the giggling set of girls on the swingset, the boisterous boys picking on a kid half their age, or the quaint group of boys and girls playing tag in the grass.…

Though I must admit, those were the rough days.…
