Employees are often recognized for their tenure and loyalty to the organization. This is often done by presenting the employee with a plaque or sometimes they may get time off with pay. Employees may also receive recognition for excellent customer service. Not only can employees be recognized by the organization, but oftentimes customers will write a letter to the company to show appreciation to an employee for providing excellent customer service. Also, employees are recognized based on sales within the company. Top sales associates are routinely recognized for a job well done. Employee of the month is another way that employees are recognized. However, with employee of the month, this type of recognition is more based on peer review. I conducted a survey within the organization to determine the most popular types of recognitions given and the frequency at which they are given. I interviewed two managers within my department. Those two managers were Compliance Audit Manager and Financial Audit Manager. The results were that both managers felt that the most popular form of recognition was the annual salary increase. They both stated that from their experience most employees respond favorably when money is involved. However, the Compliance Audit Manager stated that he routinely recognizes his employees on a monthly basis by presenting one employee a month with a day off with pay for productivity. The Financial Audit Manager stated that because his area deals more with the financials of the bank, he often times rewards his employees as Top Sales Associate of the month. Task conflict concerns conflicts between persons linked by a specific task. The conflict occurs because of difference of opinions, perspectives, choices and suggested modifications by the members of the team. Having a small to moderate amount of constant task conflict can be deemed beneficial for the business because it encourages creativeness, strong competition and offers the opportunity of an improved result because of continuous debates and various viewpoints.
