A man comes home one day to his house. He walks into his room and can not handle the suffering any longer. The man was out of his right mind. He pulls out a gun and shoots himself in the chest, leaving the world forever. This was not just an ordinary man. He had been in a lot of pain and neurological suffering. This was a man whose brain had been suffering from CTE and kept him from thinking logically. This is a true story about a man named Junior Seau. CTE is more commonly known as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. Researchers at Concussionfoundation.org describe CTE as “A progressive degenerative disease of the brain found in atlethes, military veterans, and others with a history of repetitive brain trauma.” As NFL players receive many head to head hits over the course of their careers, they begin to develop the brain disease. Football is thought of as a fun sport, nevertheless, people don't realize the affects on the brain that get increasingly worse over time. They may not know it when they're on the field, but they are putting their brains through a lot of trauma that can eventually lead to a life of CTE. Talk about players that have been diagnosed and died from CTE has recently been brought up in the news. NFL officials are beginning to realize the dangers of head to head hits which cause these brain complications. Jeff Miller, the NFL's senior vice president for health and safety was asked if football and neurodegenerative diseases such as CTE were linked together, and he said “The answer to that question is certainly yes ”. The NFL's recognition of the problem caused by concussions is the first step to solving the problem. Now they can work to stop more cases from
