The Importance Of Sustainable Energy

The world weather as you know it is becoming unstable. The winters lasting longer than they should, summers being extremely hot, odd weather patterns these are all because the ozone layer is disappearing from us using fossil fuels as power sources. There are ways to preserve the part of the ozone layer we have left and that is to use sustainable energy sources. There are many ways of sustainable energy: solar, thermal, wave, water, and more. Some of the sustainable energies produce greenhouse gasses that help protect the ozone layer. You might be wondering what the world is going to come to when the ozone layer disappears; well wonder no more there are multiple ways that people are trying to preserve the ozone layer by finding alternative ways …show more content…
Sustainable energy is from natural energy that can be restored “Sustainable energy, also sometimes called “renewable energy,” refers to sources of energy that are naturally occurring and regenerate at a rapid rate” (Codington-Lacerte). Since they regenerate they never truly go away they just time to restore. There are actually 8 ways of producing sustainable energy: solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal, OTEC, tidal, biomass, and hydrogen. “The conventional energy sources for electric power generation, heating and cooling systems, and transportation are fossil fuels (coal, petroleum, and natural gas) and nuclear power” (Codington-Lacerte). Although we use fossil fuels for those we could also use sustainable energy for them and also for others. Solar power can be used for heating and electricity, Wind power can be used for electricity, Geothermal Power can be used for electricity and heat, and Ocean power can be used for electricity: all those can be used in place of fossil fuels. The many types of energy also benefit the public by producing jobs for them at the plants that harvest the sustainable …show more content…
There are many different types of renewable energy types “Although both wind and solar power have expanded across the United States and become more cost-competitive with fossil fuels, they are still emerging industries that could decline without more consistent policy support” (Power). As long as people keep looking deeper into sustainable energy the industries will keep thriving to replace the use of fossil fuels. As of today ”Natural gas and oil, for example, have benefited from more than a century of federal subsidies supporting research and development, increased production, fuel transportation, and facility construction” (Power). The replacement of fossil fuels has also slowed down the use of the remaining natural oil left on earth. We know that natural oil is a renewable resource but it just doesn’t restore itself as fast as the other natural resources and it destroys the ozone layer unlike the others. As the popularity of the renewable energy industries increase the use of the sustainable energy that preserves the ozone

Thus for a relatively fast solution many nations are using renewable energy initiatives as an alternative for fossil fuels. Resources for renewable energy include sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. While renewable energy accounts for a minority share of the world 's energy supply, it is also the fastest growing energy supply on the planet. Renewable energy is sought after because it 's a clean source of energy; that means it doesn 't directly produce greenhouse emissions or air pollutants. The best part is that we don 't need to compromise our planet or harm it.…

For example renewable energy resources are a source of inexhaustible energy. Sun power, wind power, hydroelectric power, hydrokinetic energy, and geothermal energy are types of energies that can never deplete. Most renewable energy sources emit less greenhouse gases which slows down the process of global warming. We shouldn’t also forget that greenhouse gases also affect our health. It would be a healthier world if we use clean renewable energy sources.…

This will then increase demand and prices will raise creating a huge economic crisis. Burning fossil fuels is not sustainable but we depend on it the most to supply industries, cars and many more. In 2011 our use of fossil fuels accounted for 82% of our world’s primary energy use (globalization101.org). The remaining percent was accounted for things like solar energy and wind energy, etc. Though there are multiple alternative fuels we could be using, specifically…

Solar energy is a lot more reliable and will last longer than any other nonrenewable resource. Traditional electricity can let out gases which can be harmful. Although traditional electricity is sourced from fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas. When fossil fuels are burned to produce electricity they admit harmful gasses that are the primary cause of air pollution and global warming. Solar city carbon footprint per unit of energy production is 95% lower than that of fossil fuel power plants.…
