Sustainability Leaders
A sustainability leader is a person who works towards making the world a better place to live in through adoption of new ways of thinking, seeing and doing things. Through sustainability leadership, leaders are able to make a difference in the environment that surrounds them (Sustainability Leadership Institute, 2011). One of the people who can be regarded as a sustainability leader is Dame Polly Courtice. Her actions in leadership have led to her being adjudged as an embodiment of sustainability leadership.

The one who possesses this skill is able to make timely and sound decisions on complex issues and dilemmas. The third skill calls for long-term thinking. The leader should be in a position to see beyond the short-term goals and objectives and be able to predict what will happen in the distant future. This enables the company to have adequate preparations for any eventualities in the long term. In addition, other aspiring sustainability leaders must be prepared to face hostilities and resistance in their quest to become embodiments of sustainability leadership in their organizations. This resistance will be from co-workers, bosses, and even from those that they supervise. Lastly, it is important to note that sustainability leadership is not instantaneous. Anyone aspiring to become a sustainability leader must exhibit a willingness to acquire the prerequisite traits, knowledge, and skills that are exhibited by such leaders.
