In Macbeth the supernatural is one of the significant subjects in the play. The supernatural mostly leads to the future of the plot and causes a lot of consequences. Furthermore, they affect the character’s actions, thoughts, and normally leads to evil ways. Macbeth talks about a lot of supernatural elements in the story. There are several critical supernatural elements in Act 4, such as the apparitions which talk to Macbeth about his future.
Generally, the four apparitions talk about Macbeth’s destruction of his future. In Act 4, the four apparitions affect Macbeth’s reaction and response. Eventually, he murdered king Duncan who is his kin and killed the Banquo and tried to kill Banquo’s son, but Fleance escaped. After Macbeth sees the fourth apparition, he seems very mad and starts killing many people to protect his throne. In one of the incidents Macbeth kills Macduff’s wife, children and servants. So, it makes him a most violent and cruel ruler.
In Macbeth, Shakespeare usually uses supernatural elements to lead to the character’s destruction and makes tragic consequences. In the Old Testament God forbids the practice of witches, mediums and spirits who cast spells and consult the dead ( NIV Deuteronomy 18:11). However, Jesus uses the supernatural power to heal the sick people, but it is different because Jesus’s power comes from God and is used to glorify God.
In conclusion, the supernatural elements affect many things. If the supernatural is used in the right way, it will result in good consequences in life: if not it can cause terrible consequences in
