Summer Job Benefits

Summer jobs are, a part of almost everyone’s teenage years. For some, they are important because they can pay for college, and for others, jobs give teens a bit of extra cash for a rainy day. As I was heading into summer vacation before my senior year, I knew I needed a job for one reason. My school spring break trip in 2018. Our plan is to go to Australia and New Zealand, for two weeks, and experience the beauty that the two countries have to offer. So, like many other teenagers, I buckled down and searched for a job. I wrote my resume and sent it out to as many places as I could. One place I stumbled upon was Pinks and Greens. Within an hour, of finding the job listing, I set up my interview. Upon starting my first job, I felt so happy. Pinks …show more content…
Swearing was so common for the employees and the boss, that I felt as though I had stepped into a different world. It was like I had gone to Spain and everyone was speaking Spanish, except it was not Spanish, it was constant profanity. On top of that, my full-time coworkers seemed fluent in this language, but my fellow interns and I felt like we had not been accepted into that part work force. Once I started to block out the profanity, I started to realize that swearing was not going to be the only issue I had to deal with but also, their drinking. Some days, my coworkers started their rigorous drinking before noon and even went on to offer some to the interns. How was this normal? I can still feel that sense of pride I felt when I turned down those multiple drinks they offered me. These behaviors were not only portrayed by my coworkers, but also by the CEO, …show more content…
It seemed like a secret mission where my parents had just become James Bond. My dad called the store the next morning. I can remember his friendly yet firm voice bellowing from the office below my room. “This is Perry Neilson, he said, I would like to come in to speak to your boss today, is she free?” The answer was no, like usual. My parents decided to go in the next day together. My mom went in the back way and my dad went in the front so he could use the elevator with his walker. The store was bombarded with my parents entering from both sides. My mom went in first, like a stealthy thief in the night, and said that she would love to go shopping. Then asked “is Allison*** here?” At that moment, Allison sprang from her office ready to pray on any soul with a wallet. My mom strongly pronounced that she was my mom and then my dad came in. My parents spoke their minds. Allison was scared and my parents knew it. She through everything at them even things that were not relevant. She called me “unprofessional and stupid” to my parents faces. My coworkers stood up for me and said that I was the best intern ever. She settled with my parents that I would have to come in to get my paychecks. I went into Pinks and Greens the next day like an Olympic gymnast walks into the gym. I was proud and confident, I knew that Allison could not hurt me anymore. To my surprise Allison never showed up that day so I
