They go on to say that sugar has a high calories content that give your body energy that you lack. Did you also know that sugars glycolic acid can be very helpful in maintain the health and look of your skin? (Sugar history n.d.). You also get minerals and nutrients from which the sugar source came from like sugarcanes or beets. There are also environment benefits to take into consideration like natural sugars don’t use pesticides and other harmful chemicals.
According to the American Heart Association’s website (2015, para 2) there are two types of sugars. Frist, naturally occurring sugars are found naturally in foods such as fruit and milk. Obesity Epidemic
Is Sugar the major reason for the obesity epidemic today? According to Harvard T. H Chan School of Public Health recent article called Sugary Drinks and Obesity Fact sheet (Harvard, 2015 para 2) that just may be the case. “Rising consumption of sugary drinks has been a major contributor to the obesity epidemic.” (Harvard, 2015, para 2) The article goes on to say that “Beverage companies in the US spend $3.2 billion marketing carbonated beverages in 2006, with nearly a half billion dollars of that marketing aimed directly at youth ages 2-17.” (Harvard, 2015, para 2).
