To be successful is the goal of most Americans in this day and age. We created this country with the idea and hope to be able to create and thrive on our own. People first came here to escape from religious persecution or government oppression which made America seem like the dream escape for struggling citizens of England. America began to build as it grew, and people from any country could come to our nation for new and exciting opportunities. New people to this country and even people who have lived in this country for generations have always wanted the next best thing; they want to do what is best for them and look out for number one. Just a seven letter word but it can take so much more to explain. The blood, sweat, and tears poured into your craft just to get the best end result. It is the working everyday just to get ahead or just stay going, and it is working even harder to stay at the top. Imagine you have just landed your first legitimate job in a big city. You have dreamed about this opportunity your entire life, and you start out at the bottom of totem pole. Your desire to get ahead is seen by everyone at your job on day one. You grow tired and weary, but you know that if you slack, you will be left behind by your more diligent coworkers. You stay at the office, slaving away, missing your family, missing your bed, but you cannot stop because if you stop, you’ll get behind. Success is the extra money you have after buying the necessities such as the groceries, the car bill, and the house note. You are able to spend the time you have not spent over the years on vacations or adventures of a lifetime. You spend your hard-earned money on needs and necessities, but also on wants and desires. You are finally able to buy the massive house or the extremely fancy car your heart had always longed for, but your pockets did not hold enough money for. The happiness of knowing you have made it is the feeling of unlimited success. The view from the top of the hill is something that cannot be topped. Even though success comes with high prices, the rewards amount to so much more than the long nights at the office or the missed family dinners. You have received everything you wish for.
