Narrative Essay On Screw Up

I believe everyone is familiar with stupidity. You know exactly how it feels as your brains are missing, so you can’t think about some things you want. In addition, when you are screw-up, you will think about why the others are so much smarter than you, how they are smart and how to fix the mistake. I know deeply how hard it is to fix the fear in our mind because I have experience about it and been failure as you fall in cliff then how to climb it without fighting. It isn’t impossible to reach your accomplishment without effort, and it’s hard to keep your attention too. So, how to deal with your fixed mindset is a significant of success. Nowadays, I still feel unimproved in every day. Thus, I have to learn more and more because I don’t want …show more content…
Actually, I would lie on my cozy bed when I woke up, but noooooo!!!. In fact, I tried to pinch my arms many times, but I was still in school. I had begged my dad fully but he said, “no”. My tears were flowing down my cheeks, and my nose turned into red as a kid. I didn’t care about people who looked at me, I just wanted to go back to my home. So, I told my dad I hated a summer camp and also told him that at camp we just studied and studied which means it wasn’t fun. He held my hand and said, “I know it’s not fun, but if you keep learning, you can be smart enough to pass the test, and also meet new friends”. His thought like Carol S. Dweck mentions, “Growth mindset believe that intelligence is a potential that can be realized through learning” (1). However, I had no choice, and I had to study more, or I would stay on the same grade. During summer camp, I wasn’t happy, because my world had only text books and homework which meant no …show more content…
I was very nervous, my hand that held the pencil sweat a lot, and the pencil tip was shaken, which made my letters looked weird. Finally, I got to next grade; therefore, my dad was very happy with me, he gave me the big smile, and also patted my head smoothly. I never understood how effort can help people become clever until that summer camp. This situation made me know what Carol S. Dweck explains, “the idea that the harder you work, the more your ability will grow and that even geniuses have had to work hard for their accomplishments” (2) means. So, I’ve read books to books for two months without stopping, which is my effort that brings me to the

In Chapters 3 and 4, “Trouble with Geniuses”, Gladwell argues, “extraordinary achievement is less about talent than it is about opportunity” (76). Gladwell targets his audience by introducing Chris Langan, an individual that we may recognize and relate to since he has been on television news and game shows as well as in magazines throughout the last decade. He is “the public face of genius in American life, a celebrity outlier and one that “many call the smartest man in America” (Gladwell 70). Although Langan has an IQ of 195, he does not become the success that one would expect. Gladwell indicates that Langan’s early misfortunes and misguidance crippled him from reaching his full potential.…

There’s a Chinese Proverb that says, “Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get back up again.” I really wish I heard that quote when I thought I was a failure, but really was just being lazy. In Carol Dweck’s article “Brainology” a study is conducted on seventh grade students and their mindsets. Their mindsets were measured and studied for two years. Dweck studied the difference between the fixed mindset and the growth mindset students and how they did in school.…

In GPS 1010, I have learned that a person’s mindset is established in (1) a particular way of thinking; or (2) a person’s attitude and set of opinions about something. In addition to these items, one can either have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset. These mindsets play a huge role in one’s success or failure. The mindset has “two meanings to ability, not one: a fixed ability that needs to be proven and a changeable ability that can be developed through learning” and repetition. To sum up, “the fixed mindset makes you concerned with how you’ll be judged; the growth mindset makes you concerned with improving.”…

Mindsets are a type of belief and it can be easily changed. Mindset also connects to my beliefs because I believe that failure is not permanent. By learning from my mistakes, I can make sure that I know how to deal with the situation in case it happens again. For example, if I fail on a math test, instead of giving up and stop studying for the next test, with my growth mindset I can talk to a teacher for more help or I can study even harder on upcoming text. By using grit, it prevents me from giving into my mistake because I could always rebound my grade back up.…

One situation where I found myself in a fixed mindset was when I was a freshman at Mountain Pointe high school trying to make the baseball team. At the time, I had a half-hearted passion for baseball that made me want to be on the school baseball team, but I felt that everything would come natural to me because I was Dominican. I was quite proud of how Dominicans were typically great at baseball quite naturally it seemed. However, with this knowledge I became highly critical about everything I did when playing baseball at the high school camps before the baseball tryouts. I did not focus on overall improvement as I tried to ensure that every throw, batting, and pitch was perfect.…

Educational Autobiography Have you ever wondered where you would be today if you did not have the education you’ve had along the way? Throughout my years my motivation has stemmed from not only my parents, family and my teachers but it has come from within myself too. I strongly believe that praise and reward can help a student who is struggling or help them with their weaknesses. Carol Dweck in “Brainology” states that a growth mindset person has better odds of becoming who they want to be in life and that their intelligence will take them far (Dweck 1).…

While I was in middle school my grades were utterly appalling; however, I had found the trick to getting my desirably high grade point average; that trick was to read. Before I found the trick of reading I wouldn’t try very hard on my assignments because I did not know what I was doing. I would procrastinate and get astonishing low grades; until, I grew up and took some time out of my day to study. Now I find myself reading constantly about topics ranging from animals to the question of if the American dream is still achievable in today’s society. My grades have also noticed an improvement; such as, my grade point average has been improved from below a two to above a three point five.…

Personal Narrative Why is failure the best teacher? I am going to answer this question using personal stories as examples. Failure is the best teacher because no matter what it changes a person, if someone fails and gives up it shows them that they didn’t really want to succeed badly in the first place, if someone fails and uses their failures to then succeed than they learned what it took to make their endeavour go right. We learn from failure by deciding how we are going to react to it and depending on that reaction, it can be a large change, or a small change.…
