New Year is a big event in Armenia like Christmas in the US, may be even bigger. We buy lots of food and presents. In New Year time we have a table full of food laid about 7 days: day and night. It’s being freshened frequently and there are people visiting each other to wish happy New Year, eat together, sing and dance.
I had only $300 for my ticket that a random student in Russia approached and said to me “God told me you need this money to buy a ticket to America”. I was speechless. I took the money, I thanked her, and I thought “Since God has started to take care of it, He will help me to borrow the rest of the money”. I don’t know where I had heard from, that people in England and US were very polite and friendly. Wow! That wasn’t a good start to believe in it. Next I was “instructed” to pick up my luggage from the other side of the airport, although I was told it should go all the way to USA. I run to the other part of the airport, which took 30 minutes to get to the place, where I was supposed to pick up my luggage. When I got there, the man whom I asked about my luggage told me, that I was not supposed to take my luggage in London, but it goes all the way to Chicago. So I had to run 30 minutes back to be able to make it on time for my flight. When I got there they made me to fill out some kind of a paper for the flight, which later turned out I didn’t need to. I also helped a lady that didn’t know any English and by the time I got( running) to the gate they told me, I was late. I have no way to describe the feeling I was going through at that moment , but I asked “Can you please check one more time” and so they called, talked to someone, and looking at me said “ Run!” Stepping into the plane, the Capitan that was standing with the stewardesses looked at me and said “Are you ok, you look pail”? “Yes!” I answered “I am now” and went to my seat. I realized I could easily understand him, then I realized the plane belonged to an American airline, and the captain and not only him but the whole crew were Americans. I smiled and
