In high school and in college students tend to cheat because they feel that cheating is the only way to pass a class. Students feel the need to cheat because they are stressed out from the work the teachers are assigning them or they are going through personal problems at home. Most teenagers do an after school activity such as band, football practice, softball practice or they have to memorize a script for a play that the drama club organized so they often do not have time to do most of their work at home so the easiest way to do the assignment is to copy down their friends work.

The emphasis should be learning in class rather than assigning kids homework for kids to figure it out on their own. When kids have to figure it out on their own, they are more prone to cheat.
