There is generally no particular reason why some students have varying success, but most happen to not be as involved as others in activities ranging from sports or organizations and clubs. Usually there is a combination of factors that can contribute to making this as minuscule of a problem as possible. For a long time students and faculty have dealt with the absence of student involvement at West St. Mary High school. This must be put to an end with the lack of student involvement it shows students have worse grades, horrible communication skills, and a lack of school spirit. This could be solved by making minor school changes, or giving incentives to students so that they will be encouraged to participate in school activities. Most students …show more content…
The involvement within and outside of school not only affects the students, but also the school as a whole. If West St. Mary High School’s administrative staff come together and pick the students that are most involved and ask them a few survey questions about what they would like to improve this would be a great start to solving the problem. From here the results can be posted so that students that aren’t so involved can vote on certain activities they would like to participate in or would like to happen at the school during the academic year. This will give the administrators a look into the eye of a scholar who is highly involved in student life. This method should work because, once again, students are getting involved to make school more fun. Giving students a voice and a choice promotes wellness in all areas. Students have more confidence due to being able to make a decision. Most students will tune out of a lecture or an assignment if they feel that their ideas lack importance and don’t matter. Engaging with conversations of kids with different backgrounds enhances the students’ intelligence and broadens their horizons. If there is more student involvement inside of the school, then there should be less involved in inappropriate activities outside of school. When there is school involvement present and more student led activities are taking place, many students will leave their bad boy/girl act and become part of something bigger and better that promotes less violence in the community and a healthier
