Grendel the vicious evil monster of Cain that comes and eats soldiers, but how do we know this? We must start at the beginning, where Hrothgar built a great mead hall for all his friends and soldiers to have a place to party and drink than pass out, but a monster in the swamps heard of this area and decided that it would be a great feast for him and started attacking the great mead hall taking his recently killed meals back with him to eat them at his home. Word got to Beowulf in Geats about a monster attacking this mead hall, and decided to take 14 brave soldiers to help out Hrothgar and his monster problem. When he arrived on the their shores they weren’t greeted well because Hrothgar soldiers thought they were there to attack them at their weakest moments, but once Beowulf showed no harm, they allowed him to talk to Hrothgar, but before Beowulf went to go see him, he took off all his armor and left his weapons and had some of his men do the same, the others were to remain with the ship and await further instructions. We he was before Hrothgar he bowed and asked for Hrothgar’s permission if he can fight Grendel, without armor or weapons, and Hrothgar was excited and allowed him and threw a feast for Beowulf. Secondly, later that night Grendel came and killed some of Beowulf 's men, but when he grabbed Beowulf, Beowulf grabbed back. They fought, the whole mead hall shook and jumped, neither one was backing …show more content…
This is a very long time after the battles with Grendel and Grendel’s mother, Beowulf is now an old man and not the man that he use to be, a little weaker, but very much wiser, he is also the king of the Danes. When they are celebrating, gold and silver is given to Beowulf, but one of the treasures given to him is a stolen cup from a dragon 's lair. After a thousand year slumber, he wakens when he hears and notices that a piece of his treasure is taken away from him and then goes on a rampage. Beowulf gets word on this dragon and his treasure and sets out to go fight him with “brave” soldiers, to go after this dragon and take his treasure. He gives them a speech on how they are going after the dragon and the treasure, he also gives a hint that he or any of them may not survive this fight, but they set off anyway. Next, once they hit the dragon 's lair, they hear this monster breathing within the cave and all of the sudden this gigantic, monstrous dragon comes out of his cave, the soldiers run away while Beowulf goes after the dragon! While Beowulf is fighting the dragon, the dragon spits out fire from his mouth, burning Beowulf shield into nothing, and once he has no shield the dragon takes a big bite out of his neck. A soldier named Wiglaf, that ran away, stopped and was wondering “what am I doing? I vowed to Beowulf, I must help my king!” He tried to convince the others the same thing, but that was in vain,
