The progressive ideology of this specified social work is in favour of the LGTB people because it is aimed to find solutions to societal problems such as the lack of services available to homosexuals (Mullaly, 2007, p. 53). To continue, out of the four societal paradigms discussed in the Mullaly textbook, a social democrat or even a Marxist perspective would be the best way to bring equality. These two perspectives are open to different beliefs, they accept individual differences and also believe that everyone should have to same rights no matter what their sexual orientation may be (Mullaly, 2007, p.206-207). Another benefit to structural social work for this population is the way it has a set goal. For example, other types of social work suggest finding solutions to problems, compared to structural social work that creates a goal and then finds a way to achieve it.
