Everyone has either been in a relationship, had a crush, or has been in a life long relationship whether that is marriage or a life long partner. My question to the readers is, what went wrong? Why did that relationship fail or what makes it work? According to writer Sara Altschule from bustle.com, in order to have a healthy relationship you need to be able to, “form a trusting and positive partnership” (Altschule, 2016). Every relationship needs work and every relationship doesn’t start out with rainbows and butterflies. It takes time, effort, understand, and a lot of love and compassion. If love and compassion do not exist, than what is the point, right? Wrong. You cannot assume that when you met your current boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife …show more content…
negative are just some of the 10 Habits of Couples in Strong and Healthy Relationship journalist Sara Altschule wrote about. Out of all of the 10 habits Altschule wrote about, I’d have to say communication is by far the most important. Throughout the countless fights I caused between Kody and I, hands down, I caused almost 99.9% of them. The reason, zero communication. Not just verbal communication, but also non-verbal. I didn’t know how to control my emotions, so I did what I thought was best and threw them all on the table with no explanation and blindsiding Kody. I never listened, I raise my voice when he tried to talk attempting to drowned out his thoughts, and worst of all, I didn’t explain myself when he asked why. I was triggered with emotions just like Gary Harper explained in The Joy of Conflict. I was in the drama triangle, and I was the villain every …show more content…
On top of that, I told him I was putting it in a paper and sharing it with my professor. Instantly I noticed a shield come over him, he locked him hands in him lap and started frantically tapping him feet. I then explained to him that he is showing he is uncomfortable with the situation and I understood why. Doing that seemed to have lifted a weight off of his shoulders and he was like a broken record the rest of the interview. Kody’s exact words when I asked him what he thought caused our conflicts in the past was, “ I felt we had zero communication, you attacked me when I didn’t understand the problem, and the shut down when I tried to ask you more about why was bothering you” (Kody, 2016). It stung, but I already knew I did what he was saying. The one person I ever wanted to hear it from, was him. We know we cannot run from out issues, and or, assume they are all behind us. I knew that I needed to relax and be able to explain my feelings rather than just jump to conclusion. Sadly, I caught depression from doing just this when we fought. I didn’t know how to fix it so I figure it was over and I was going to be loosing the most important thing in my life. I was lost because I couldn’t control how I was feeling, and I couldn’t go tell the one person I wanted to, because it would lead to a

According to the article, “Will Your Marriage Last?” by Brooke Lea Foster, there are many factors that come into play when it comes to having a happy, successful marriage and avoiding divorce. On the other hand, Foster states that there are more factors that may distress a marriage thus leading to divorce rather than maintaining a happy marriage. Some factors that lead to divorce are interracial marrying, moving in prior to marrying, and having a child (Foster 107). I can agree with Foster that it is surprising to find out that moving in with your partner prior to marriage would lead to feeling like they are forced into a life long commitment rather than choosing to be in one. I find this to be extremely surprising considering that living together before marrying would be beneficial in seeing whether the partnership would work out.…

His anger grew, manifesting as ugly words and sometimes rough physical interactions. The reality was slowly starting to shine its way through to me, but I continued in my stubborn refusal of acceptance. I mean after all it wasn’t always bad. There were many times where we laughed, interacted with our son, he showed affection and apologized for his brutish behavior. “I am so sorry,” and “I won’t do it again,” quickly became familiar phrases.…

Rogerian Argument There are two different perspectives of causes to a successful relationship. The first is communication, trust, support, and honesty; the second perspective is an entitlement, showering of gifts, no fighting, and finding quick solutions to major problems. Although, both perspectives show very understandable reasoning individually, each cause evens the other out. Lauren states that having a sense of entitlement, being showered in gifts, having zero fights, and finding quick solutions to major problems all contribute to a successful relationship.…

I believe the “fairy tale” of love that is discussed in the article is harmful to woman for the two fallowing reasons. Fairy tales teaches, false ideas about love, that later on could lead to a fall of depression for a human being. However, there are also some negative aspects of fairy tales. According to the article “The Marriage Plot” by Roxane Gay says “Instead of bleeding from the foot to fit a golden slipper, they bleed their dignity, one episode at a time” (2).…

In this article, Lisa Wade emphasizes the desire of men to have more intimate friendships. She states that men want the same things as women from an intimate relationship: “emotion support, disclosure and having someone to take care of them.” This goes against what we have previously read about men, but at the same time it is not. She does not say that men go around expressing their need to talk about their feelings, therefore we can assume that this is hidden from other, judgmental, men in an effort to still appear manly.…

There is a fanciful idea of what being in a relationship is like. People dream of finding ‘the one' and spend every second of their lives with this wonderful person. However, as I stated before, this is a fanciful idea. Being in any type of relationship requires a great deal of time and energy, and isn't often drowned in love. You are expected to compromise on everything, stop talking to certain people, and have to constantly defend your loyalty.…

I believe that out of the three dimensions of sexuality the video “What you don’t know about marriage” addresses the psychological dimension. The video describes aspects, feelings, and experiences that we may feel that contribute to the success and failure of marriages. In the video Jenna McCarthy describes how certain behaviors and actions, such as men doing household chores, contribute to the wives becoming more attracted to their husbands, creating a chain reaction. Where the husband attracts the wife, the wife is more open to providing more sex, more sex satisfies the husband and is genuinely nicer and appreciative-like towards the wife, the wife is happy towards the attitude, and the relationship all together sustains to be a happier…

Seeking a relationship is one of the most human things that a person could ever do. Whether it is for platonic reasons or sexual, the drive to be associated with other individuals is natural for almost everybody in society, barring any dysfunctions or impaired mental states. The search for a partner is the one strive that is common across all cultures since “as social beings, most humans live in a matrix of relationships that, to a large extent, define their identity (Mellor, et al, 2008).” Need for social contact goes beyond just a simple urge to talk to one another since long periods of isolation can actually cause real damage to an individual’s mental health. There is a foundational need, almost akin to hunger, for relationships; this, once…
