I chose books as a symbol because reading and literature is very important to my culture and my family. When my father was young, his grandmother used to read to him every day, and my father did the same for my siblings and I. Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to read, and I own many books that I keep on shelves.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

When I first started school I thought that it would take me awhile to adjust. All throughout my senior year of high school everyone had told me that college is completely different from high school and that I need to change my study habits. So far I have been able to handle everything “so that I can increase my odds of winning” (Harry, 2015, p. 31) by adding little adjustments to my usual schedule as the year goes on. I can usually handle deadlines pretty well, however, if there are some times when I forget something is due and I spend the whole day focused on that one task until it is complete. I can understand how my instructor teach and what they expect within a couple of weeks in the class.…
