Change is a part of life everyone must deal with. Change not only applies to individuals, but also to organizations. An organization typically approaches change from one of two perspectives. One of those perspectives is the organizational learning perspective. A company operating from an organizational learning perspective learns from problems and adapts to respond to outside issues (Akin, Dunford, &Palmer, 2006). In her article, Managing Change Successfully, Eileen Brownell shares her insights on change and the benefits of the organizational learning perspective.
Summary
As rapid change has become more common in everyday business, companies strive to find the best way to navigate these unchartered waters. Brownell does not specifically mention the organizational learning perspective in her article, but her approach follows the principles of the perspective. The

Her nine steps describe how successful learning organizations operate. A manager operating in a learning organization accepts change, supports their employees, and remains engaged in the process. According to Sandra Kerka learning organizations provide continuous learning opportunities, use learning to reach goals, link individual performance with organizational performance, create an environment that encourages inquiry and dialogue, embrace creativity, and be aware of the environment (1995). With the information provided by the textbook and supporting data from Kerka, I agree with the assessments make by Brownell in her article on the best ways for an organization to approach change. The company I work for is constantly changing. My company approaches change from a learning organization perspective. Change is embraced and encouraged, team members are supported through the change, and managers help walk employee through the struggles change brings.
