A majority of students at North Salinas High School try to ignore stereotypes, rarely letting it affect them, others take these stereotypes seriously, but sometimes people forcibly attempt to do the complete opposite of the stereotype to prove that they are not what they assume they are. This can impact the person both mentally and physically. A stereotype that was mentioned was, ¨Asians always have to get an A+, it is not acceptable to get lower than an A+.¨ Someone whom is trying to prove this stereotype wrong may start showing lack of responsibility and effort into their school work, soon affecting their grades.

I am surprised that a majority of the stereotypes do not affect the students, but living in a diverse school with different cultures and races, we learn what is true and what is just a stereotype. So I ask again, what is a stereotype? A stereotype is a commonly known, and oversimplified picture of a particular person, that should not affect how you should act or how you think of yourself. The students from North High seem to get a good grasp what they should think about stereotypes. I conclude that North High is not as heavily influenced by
