Firstly, stand-up paddle boarding can help students connect with nature. Being outside is refreshing, rather than being cooped up in a typical class room, students, as well as the professor, can enjoy the outdoors. Seeing as most paddle board classes must take place in lakes, rivers, or inlets, students have the chance to notice the extensive wild life in those areas, which can be a whole other lesson in itself. There are even specific tours to take if an individual is interested in seeing the ecosystem. Not only will they notice the wildlife, but they will have the opportunity to understand how important it is to take care of our planet.
