Personal Narrative: My Choices In My Life

Superior Essays
My mom always says that life is about choices. She says we can choose to make choices that make us proud, that we regret, and that have consequences. Ultimately though, she says that I get to choose who I want to be. I am passionate about the sports I play. I love everything about them: the hard work, sweat, tears and competitive nature that comes from playing on a team. In the fall, I’m on the football field. In the winter, I lace up my skates to play hockey. In the spring, I take to the lacrosse field. I was playing one of these sports, when I was faced with a situation that had definite consequences. I was 13 years old, last spring, and made a choice that will stick with me forever. It was a cool, cold, crisp spring morning at Grandville High School. It was one of our first lacrosse tournaments of the season and I have been looking forward to this day for a while. As we …show more content…
The other kid was arguing with the referee, so he was a little behind me in his walk. From the retelling of witnesses, the Grandville player heading to the penalty box wound up his stick, like he was going to hit a baseball off a tee. He gripped the handle of his stick, choked up on it, turned sideways and swung for the fences. The problem was, my head was the baseball and my body was the tee. The boy actually hit me on purpose, full force with his lacrosse stick to my head!
It sounded like a firecracker had exploded on my skull. Luckily, my helmet was on and because of the thousand watts of adrenaline surging through me, I didn’t feel any pain. Without thinking and in the blink of an eye, fast as light, I swung my stick with full force into the kid who just played baseball with my head. My stick struck him with so much velocity, picked him up, and his body went flying into the air like a rag doll. I watched in horror as he landed onto the ground with a

This story begins on a hot, summer Sunday on a neighborhood playground in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida when I was a kindergartener. The playground had one item that I liked the most which was a thing that you would hold onto then someone would push you across ten feet while your feet were hanging down. My dad came up to push me and might have pushed me a little too hard. When I got to the end of the line there was a rubber block that stops you very abruptly. Due to inertia, I was flung off of the handle over the rail, then did some crazy acrobatics in the air, Finally I landed right on top of my left wrist.…

After quickly setting the ball, I immediately spun around to try and catch the ball, but it was too late. Smack! The ball knocked me in the head, and I instantly plopped onto the hard gym floor. It’s very strange how one experience or choice you make in your life can change the rest of your life that follows that event, would you then in turn change these decisions you made. Such as your what if your mom conceived you not on the knowing basis. What if everyone was telling her not to because she was to be a single mom and that’s not a world a child should be born into, but then what if she challenged this belief that she grew up with. This then in turn affected all her choices later in life, but then vice versa what if she didn't challenge this belief and stuck with what she knew. This may be of the more extreme choices in life that some people must make but we all have that certain time in our life that comes where we must break away and make…

I was running backwards with my head facing the ball while the goalie went to put the ball out, also, there was a girl running right next to me. It all started around 4th grade. In my class there was this jerk ( I will refer to him as Billy Bob) he would make fun of me and was generally not a nice guy. I was dribbling with the ball close to the goal about to score when I slipped, banging my fragile and feeble head on the strong and superior stone floor. My leg shot out like a bullet and smashed into the metal wall like a baseball bat. The impact died like a plane with it’s engine down. I felt nothing at first, but a fraction of a second later my leg was paining so much that I felt someone was putting a red-hot metal stick on my leg and they were digging their way in like blood-thirsty scarabs and another second later my head hit the stone floor and this time it felt that someone was just putting a cricket ball hitting my head at a terrific speed and I skittered to the floor and thudded like ball, performing it’s last bounces.…

God works in mysterious ways. Many people think that God works through miracles in order to prove himself to others. I discovered, though, that sometimes God uses everyday activities to help us grow and learn how to interact to spread his word and truth. I had always participated in sports throughout my childhood and I was really comfortable in game situations, but I never thought that sports could help me get to know myself or witness to others. Until my friends had coaxed me into going on a Workcamp mission trip, I was a very introverted person, in a sense.…
