Spirituality is the belief in the existence of something greater than us, a concept that has a variety of meanings throughout history. It could be ones search for ‘sacred’ meaning in their life, personal growth, or an experience with their inner self. The expression of spirituality at Terrace extends back to the initial creation of the school. At St Josephs Gregory Terrace, the idea of spirituality plays a momentous role in the devolvement and introduction of students into the Terrace gentleman and moreover, the Terrace community. My spiritual growth at Terrace since 2010 has significantly developed and has been encouraged by a myriad of activities throughout the school. The person I am today and both religious have shaped my subsequent growth …show more content…
The experiences and events such as daily prayer, Waterford and more have helped me mature my spiritual journeys and have been crucial at my time at Terrace. The religious practices I think can be improved are the religious subject in general. While I believe it is an essential role in our education, I believe it focuses too much on the biblical meanings and analyzing the bible and Gods actions. Thus, I think the religion class should be more practical and focus on the messages of how we can put the biblical into action, as the whole world is not Catholic. It should also allude to the growth of religion in the community and how modern days society is ever growing in their beliefs. If these adjustments are made, I believe people’s spirituality will much be considerate of others and help follow the morals of Edmund Rice. Additionally, some secular practices can be further enhanced such as house friendship groups. The house friendship program helps students experience a whole new culture and financial situation, demonstrating what the real world is like in which material wealth does define the people met and seemingly is not important. This was the one of the most significant experiences for me as …show more content…
Firstly, while there is a significant participation rate with the Edmund Rice Van, Orange Sky Laundry in my opinion, does not receive enough volunteers. Based from this, their should be either a morning or afternoon Orange Sky Laundry program that involves all ages in their house groups to provide help to the Orange sky Laundry foundation. It will promote conversation with the disadvantaged similarly to Eddies van. This program would promote spirituality within the boy’s participation and hopefully not only promote awareness, but also act as a catalyst for change. Secondary, the nine houses in the school represent a small family and thus is a pivotal group for the promotion of school spirituality. While there are house assemblies, I personally believe that there should be another communal house activity every week such as a house meet-up at lunch or a house retreat every year in which all the houses come together for a period of time. This would engage all members of the Terrace family and act as a spiritual ritual that would be a prime opportunity to raise the spirituality of the cohort and the houses. Finally, while their a designated war cry events such as the gorilla gathering, students who are generally for hesitant or shy or don 't participate

As an incoming freshman in August of 2015 taking Rhetoric 105, I not only learned how to take apart papers, summarize, paraphrase, analyze and construct passages, but overall to be a great thinker. There are many ways that a person can tell you that works to become a better thinker, but it starts within you. While writing papers this fall semester, I learned that my writing became better when I a. understood what was being asked of me via the criteria, b. allowed myself to make mistakes in order to understand what I was and wasn 't doing correctly, c. I started to question myself, not in a way of was the work too hard, but in the sense of what the assignment and the thesis I am creating is asking. At this stage, you have to be completely real…

I appreciate receiving constructive feedback, since this criticism is valuable for me improving from my mistakes. Recently, I had been a leader of a group with whom I had worked on developing a new soda brand, for our entry in the Coca Cola sponsored, World Series of Innovation Competition. Being leader of this team, I encouraged my team to be open and give me their best suggestions. In this process I received positive criticism for my approach in leadership, feedback that I can apply to become a better leader. My group informed me that I took too much initiative to complete the unfinished tasks of some participants, rather than encouraging them to do this work themselves.…

In an article titled, “Five Essential Marks of Catholic Schools,” Archbishop J. Michael Miller quotes Michael J. Guerra, former president of the National Catholic Educational Association, who once remarked, "The first and most important task for Catholic schools is to maintain and continually strengthen their Catholic identity" (2006). In an attempt to analyze the state of faith leadership in my school, Omaha Mercy High School, I interviewed three non-religion teachers: Heather Newville (science), Josh Riesberg (history), and Paul Tschudin (technology). As an English teacher, I chose to interview faculty members outside of my department in order to see the spiritual dimension of our school through the eyes of those whose experiences and opinions…

“Worldviews shape not just our individual lives, but universities as well.” (Why College Matters To God, 20) I believe that the main way that we should live in the world is through listening to and being able to talk to people openly about differences in beliefs and social differences. If one strives to be conscious of and learn from other points of views and experiences, one can be enlightened and educated in things that they might have missed otherwise.…

Granelleo and Young reiterate the importance of learning how to read different types of scholarly articles that graduate students will face as a part of their curriculum. After regrouping and rereading was I able to refocus on what the article was addressing. The article brought up some very important facts about including spirituality and prayer in counseling sessions or as interventions. One thing weld and kersen discussed was the fact of secular counselors using spirituality or pray in counseling. I was very surprised that the possibilities of such would be allowed in any secure counseling setting due to ethics and most organizations not allowing religions to be discussed in any forms.…
