Many people have explored racism and they have given more importance to this term rather than giving more importance to speciesism. Speciesism is a term that should be taken more seriously because it has a meaning of discrimination against animals. Although racism is a big problem, speciesism should be taken more seriously due to all the horrible things animals have to deal with, because, animals are being ignored, animals are being abused, and animals are being excluded from their habitat. As though many people would consider animals as useless creatures, that’s why people are supporting racism and giving more importance to racism because they think that supporting animals is pointless. Nonetheless, yes racism is an important term because of all the discrimination, beatings of different races and the killing of different ethnicities. In the website called The Guardian, in the article “America Is Still a Deeply Racist Country,” by Chris Arnade he explains how he experience racism when he entered his hometown’s bar. “A week after Barack Obama was elected president in 2008, I walked into my old hometown bar in central Florida to hear, "Well if a nigger can be president, then I can have another drink. Give me a whiskey straight up” (Arnade). This shows how people in today’s society are continuing to be ignorant and racist. The reason is we as humans can rise and fight for our rights to stop racism in this world, however, animals can’t fight for their rights nor can they stand up for themselves. That’s why speciesism should be a term that should be given more attention not only for what it means, but for how the animals are being treated because of this term speciesism. Many people don’t realize about how animals are living in bad conditions and how bad they are being treated. If I were in a position to decide to choose between fighting for racism or speciesism, I would have chosen speciesism because animals can show emotions like people, but they don’t show it like us. Animals show their emotions in a way that gets them the attention from a person or animal
