Social wellness describes how we connect and interact with others around us. Body image plays a big role in society which explains why it has such a big impact on one’s self-esteem. Self-esteem is level of worth and confidence we have for ourselves and without it, we sometimes live a life of isolation. “Studies show that loneliness increases the risk of early death by 45%” (everdayhealth.com). Our entire life is revolved around our ability to connect and form relationships with others. If you look better, you often feel better about yourself, therefore, physical activity plays such a big role on social wellness. We release natural chemicals making us feel good. Often times when exercising, our heart pressure increases and the brain recognizes this as a moment of stress, and to help ease the symptoms, the brain naturally releases endorphins. “Endorphins are a self-produced drug that trigger a positive feeling throughout the body” (m.webmd.com). The feeling produced by the release of endorphins is what motivates one to continue down the path of healthier lifestyle. Often times many are so confined by struggles in their life, and they fail to find the joy, but physical activity provides that for us (m.webmd.com).
Quality sleeping is another major benefit that physical activity has on mental health. Quality sleep is essential because it impacts how we carry ourselves for the rest of the day. According to statistics “in the U.S about 35 to 40% of the population has problems falling asleep” (sleepfoundation.org). Sleep deprivation could hinder our performance at work, or even cause a lack of concentration at school. According to studies “150 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity showed a 65% improvement on sleep quality” (sleepfoundation.org). It
