Henslin (2015) notes that within macrosociology, the major components of social structure are “culture, social class, social status, roles, groups, and social institutions” (p. 100). The relationships of such groups to one another affects who we are and what we are like, even what we do in one another’s presence. This face-to-face type of interaction is the focus in microsociology. Countless aspects of interaction are impacted by society and group relationships, such as stereotypes, personal space, eye contact, smiling, and body language (Henslin 2015). It is very interesting how each little action, movement, and decision in social interaction is guided and received differently depending on each of the involved people’s social structures. Some things that just seem like human nature to me, are not, and are just solely custom to our society. Even small interactions and things such as smiling can be taken different ways between cultures, and this is due to the varying social structures. I, just like everyone else, lead a busy life. My days are filled, and I typically don 't have time for homework until my daughter is in bed at night. I often start each week completing the readings and homework from another class, then I move on to the reading for this course, and take the quiz. The discussion boards are always the last things left on my weekly to do list, and I often find it to be Sunday night and still not have the discussions complete. I truly do like the idea of relating the information back to our own lives, seeing other’s perspectives, and being able to communicate with each other. But, writing has never been my easiest or favorite or activity, so it’s the obvious thing for me to want to push to the back each week, as other things seem more important or like I’ll have a more productive time completing them. My goal for the rest of the semester is to keep up with the rest of the discussion boards, and no longer wait for Sunday nights to complete them, as it is stressful and then makes me feel rushed and anxious. I enjoy this course and feel that I grasp much of the information; I just need to be more on top of completing my discussion boards, so that my grade will better reflect my care and knowledge of the
