Family and friends are the most important thing to me and through time the world is constantly evolving with technology allowing everyone including myself to become closer to friends and family no matter where they are located in the world through the use of social media. They could be one of the 2.3 billion individuals that are using a social media page. Over time social media has begun to take over society. This is because compared to a decade ago the usage of social media has risen about ten times more. According to pewinternet.org “Young adults (ages 18 to 29) are the most likely to use social media in 2005 it was 12% today fully 90% do. Still, usage among those 65 and older has more than tripled since 2010 when 11% used social media. Today, 35% of all those 65 and older report using social media, compared with just 2% in 2005.” Over the years not only has the amount of people on these social networks changed, but so has the variation of groups that use it. As I have shown you the operations vary in age groups but its deeper than that because it goes into gender differences (males 62% & females 68%), race (whites 68%, Hispanics 65%, African-American 56%), and even community difference (rural 58%, urban 64%) for comparisons to 2005 refer to reference 1 (pewinternet.org).
