Referring to social media Dr. Ferrier says, “It makes it harder for people to feel happy and have gratitude for their own lives, and that's quite a deliberating thing.” All around the world schools are blocking social media to all technology during their hours. Parents and teachers are claiming that it will boost how the students learn and increase education. The school board may consider changing this requirement, but they need feedback from citizens first. Despite some of the educational purposes that benefit from social media, schools should ban it from their classrooms. These sites can negatively impact your social skills, be a distraction, and can even cause emotional upsets. Social media today can cause a downfall in a students social …show more content…
For example, The Australian Psychological Society has pointed out that the average stress and depression rate is rising quickly in Australia. This might have nothing to do with the United States, but social media has caused many students all around the world to experience horrific events like these. Having social media allowed in schools will give students more of a chance to be bullied and or threatened. There are statistics that show that seventeen percent of social media users have been contacted by a terrorizing peer, this number will continue to rise if incorporated into schools. Also, the death rate has been predicted to consistently increase from social media. Although, students have an option to sort out who can encounter their page and block the insignificant people to them, their are still bullies that will go out of their comfort zone to harm or devastate someone. There is no reasonable explanation that these bullies crave hatred for the newcomers ,but they will have less of a chance to take action when social media is blocked. Many users may also not want to be socially active and will have a future of regret or sorrow. Although, few children will forget their situation, but some later on will always stay in a depression or worse. Social media has obviously caused many severe situations and needs to be stopped, if it isn’t things will get out of hand and there will be no way to prevent
