Summary: The Influence Of Soccer On My Life

Superior Essays
In 2006 I started soccer at the age of 4. Little did I know that it would have such an impact on my life going forward. Since 2006, I have not stopped playing soccer.
I started playing soccer at a local club called the Georgetown Rangers. I always grew up with soccer. My older brothers have always played and my mom loved the game. It was in my blood. My parents say I stood out among the kids when I was young and was drawn to soccer like a magnet to a fridge. They also say that I was always pretty good.
As I grew older I progressively got better and better. I stayed with the Rangers until 2013 and met a lot of friends on that team that I still talk to today. In 2013, I became a 7th grader and took my talents to Jenison Junior High. Our team played well and I met new people that had the same interest as me: soccer. I got to know and become friends with my teammates and saw them around the school.

I was happy to be on the team and be able to lead the team as the captain. I had a good time by having fun with my teammates and through playing on the field, more than the year before.
I am now playing indoor soccer with my friends and am trying to stay conditioned. It is nice because it is not as competitive as school soccer so my team and I can mess around and just have fun while playing the game and keeping our touches fresh for the spring.
I will be playing on a spring team that I tried out for in the late fall - this will be my first time playing in the spring since 6th grade. I am excited to get back onto the field and smell the newly cut grass.
Through my playing and conditioning now, I am preparing, not only for my spring season but for the fall when I have to try out to play varsity soccer. I am hoping I make the team and I can have fun playing soccer with the team just like I have in past years. I am glad I started soccer in 2006 because of where it has brought me

Accountability, unity, and intentionality are fundamental elements of a successful team. All three of these elements are interdependent on each other, yet are significant on their own. For these elements to work, each member of a team must depend on each other’s contribution, but not rely on one member to do all the work. As well, an intentional goal must be set for all members to unify the same mentality. In my own experience with the Buckeye Twirl baton team, we fail to perform as a team and work as individuals.…

The sport in its entirety is what I came to love. So, I’m still following a soccer-centric path as much as possible. Along the way, I guess my passion wasn’t seen by only me, later giving me the opportunity to become my school’s varsity team’s videographer, something I’ll never be able to fully express my gratitude for.
