Summary: The Influence Of Soccer On My Life

Superior Essays
In 2006 I started soccer at the age of 4. Little did I know that it would have such an impact on my life going forward. Since 2006, I have not stopped playing soccer.
I started playing soccer at a local club called the Georgetown Rangers. I always grew up with soccer. My older brothers have always played and my mom loved the game. It was in my blood. My parents say I stood out among the kids when I was young and was drawn to soccer like a magnet to a fridge. They also say that I was always pretty good.
As I grew older I progressively got better and better. I stayed with the Rangers until 2013 and met a lot of friends on that team that I still talk to today. In 2013, I became a 7th grader and took my talents to Jenison Junior High. Our team played well and I met new people that had the same interest as me: soccer. I got to know and become friends with my teammates and saw them around the school.

I was happy to be on the team and be able to lead the team as the captain. I had a good time by having fun with my teammates and through playing on the field, more than the year before.
I am now playing indoor soccer with my friends and am trying to stay conditioned. It is nice because it is not as competitive as school soccer so my team and I can mess around and just have fun while playing the game and keeping our touches fresh for the spring.
I will be playing on a spring team that I tried out for in the late fall - this will be my first time playing in the spring since 6th grade. I am excited to get back onto the field and smell the newly cut grass.
Through my playing and conditioning now, I am preparing, not only for my spring season but for the fall when I have to try out to play varsity soccer. I am hoping I make the team and I can have fun playing soccer with the team just like I have in past years. I am glad I started soccer in 2006 because of where it has brought me

I coach at an event organised by my local soccer club called ‘Fun Football’ and I love it. Some players have a lot of potential even at a very young age which is great to see. I also volunteer to help out at local summer camps for children. I feel that this is a great way to keep children active while at the same time allowing them to socialise. I believe that this is important for these children as unfortunately they often forget about keeping active as a result of the increased technologies that surround them.…
